UNPLANNED is showing at MJR Adrian Cinema! Since regular Wednesday evening activities have been moved to the Good Friday service this week, I think it would be AMAZING if a group from AFCON could attend the 6:50 PM showing of UNPLANNED on Wednesday, April 17th. It’s a great way to show our appreciation and support of Christian films being shown at our local movie theater. But be prepared; you will leave changed. So… please join us at MJR Cinema on Wednesday evening at 6:50 PM!! From a personal perspective: Beth Wilson invited me to see the movie several weekends ago. I thank God that I saw it. I am very sensitive about what I watch. This movie has an “R” rating “for disturbing and bloody images” so I wasn’t sure what to expect. After watching it and reading reviews of how seemingly biased the rating is, I firmly believe everyone (including every young person who is biologically capable of reproducing) should see UNPLANNED. I was shocked how skillfully done this movie is. UNPLANNED is honest, but incredibly compassionate. Thanks! Mandy Buckland

Charles L. Phillips, age 76 of Adrian, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019 Visitation will be held at the Wagley funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2019, at Wagley Funeral Home.

This Wednesday starts the Lent season, the 40 days leading up to Easter, Resurrection Sunday. A lot of Christians “give up something” they like for Lent. The whole idea is self-denial of something, of some activity you like to remind yourself every day up until Easter how much Christ suffered for our salvation. Although our price is small, it is a reminder to stop and think every time we crave or want something about the fact that Jesus paid the ultimate price for our salvation on the cross. Is it something you have to do to be a “good Christian”? Nope. But the whole idea is pretty neat when you think about it; just a reminder that Jesus Paid It All for us through the suffering of the cross. I do hope you have a blessed and meaningful lent season! -Pastor Dave

This Sunday is a very important one in the life of our church! This is the last day of the church year and we are going to be blessed together as we thank God for the past year and look forward to what He has in store next. There will be communion, testimonies, baby dedications, and celebrations! Please don’t miss it! It is one of the highlights of the year!! See you Sunday! ALSO: We will have prayer in Paul Palpant’s room from 6 pm to 7 pm Sunday night. Along with that, we are asking you to take one day in March (the first month of the church year) for concentrated prayer and a fast. We have about 1/3rd of March filled. So simply email [email protected] to fast and pray for AFCON, our mission, church staff and this coming church year! We will email you back with your date or sign up on the church information table this Sunday. You don’t have to be a member!

I received the following letter (redacted) from a family that attends our church and wanted to share it with you all: "Our Granddaughter was dedicated at church about 5 years ago. She was given several wonderful gifts including a kid’s Bible. We have used that Bible every night since. It has been used every night since. It has been used every night since. It has been dropped and taped several times and looking warn out! She can read the Bible all by herself! How exciting! One Sunday evening you gave her a brand new one. She is excited and proud of her new Bible. Thank you for investing your time, talents, and prayers into the people of AFCON. We are so glad to be a part of a church full of love, compassion, prayer and action.”

This past Sunday there was a great outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit on His service. It was great because of His faithfulness. Well, over half of the church heard and responded. Do not rob yourself of God’s blessing that He has for you this Sunday. It was an amazing service! If 2019 is getting off track, now is the time to get it back on track…2019 is still young. “…lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” -Luke 21:28 Prayer Requests: Clay Loxton – Clay is having very serious heart troubles and had emergency heart surgery last night in Jackson Sally Welsh – Dealing with pain and is recovering yet from an infection Don Corbin – On Hospice and has only a few days to live. Pray for Ruth who is in assisted living. And pray for their son who has a broken hip bone. Helen Mitchel – She has been placed on hospice care and is in the twilight of her life Scott Haden – Very ill fighting the cancer; he is at home/Rosey is going to take time off of work to be there for her husband Marilyn Sayler – Recovering from a wound surgery Brenda Coleman – Recovering from spine surgery this past week Jon Doyel – Recovering from spine/neck surgery Dick Ream and family – Mourning the loss of Jane Ream (and the loss of Jane Girdham) Dezelski Family – The loss of their baby Membership and Baptism will be postponed until spring. Between sickness, funerals, church year-end, staff changes, bad weather, and my personal recovery we want to give these folks the proper respect and attention that they deserve. So, we will hit pause for a moment then ready ourselves for the new life of Easter and the Resurrection of Christ! Spring is coming! So this Feb 24th will have church board voting, baby dedication(s), Pastor Dave’s report, awards & communion. We extend a warm welcome to Jill Villanueva who is our new office administrator! Normal office hours are Tuesday through Friday (9 AM – 3 PM).

Celebrate Recovery meets at Adrian First Church of the Nazarene TONIGHT! We are so thrilled that a member from AFCON CR will be sharing her testimony of recovery from addiction and finding hope, healing, and restoration through Christ with the support of her “forever family.” If you have ever considered attending CR, tonight would be an amazing night to come! Dinner at 6:00 PM, Large Group at 7:00, and Open Share at 8:00. We highly recommend attending large group at 7:00 if you are unable to stay for the entire evening! Please keep this urgent request in your prayers. Melinda Fulks mother, Martha, fell at church this morning and has reinjured the arm that she had broken earlier this Fall. Please pray for wisdom in her treatment and healing.

PARENTS! Ever imagine what you could do if you just had a several hours to yourself on a Saturday? Well… here’s your chance to make that dream a reality! AFCON is hosting a PARENTS DAY OUT as a way to say “WE LOVE YOU!” and “MERRY CHRISTMAS!” to all of our parents. Christmas can be a stressful time of the year for many families, so drop those kiddos off at the church for a fun-filled time and make a dash for whatever fills your hearts with Christmas cheer! **We will be providing a light lunch so please let us know if your child has food allergies.**
